He is the planet’s top ranked golfer, has a charmingly beautiful winning smile as well as millions of dollars in the bank – Rory McIlroy is used to topping several lists in sports.
But when it comes down to the list of the most eligible bachelors in the world, the 25 year old from Northern Ireland comes in at a humbling 35th.
American magazine Town and Country has named the Northern Irishman as one among the top 50 single men around the world. This list is dominated completely by heirs to huge fortunes, media types and even members of the United States’ Kennedy family. What is impressive is that the world number one golfer is one of only 10 men under 25 years of age to be named in the rankings.
Rory McIlroy created history by becoming the first man in the history of golf in Europe to win three different major titles and bagged a cool $ 100 million in doing so, having pocketed a staggering deal with sports manufacturing giants Nike Inc.
The golfer recently traded blows both with the Ryder Cup and former world number one Tiger Woods, meaning that he has been in the news for one reason or the other.
What is interesting is that he has credited his recent surge in form to the breakdown of his relationship with long time girlfriend and former fiancée Caroline Wozniacki following their unceremonious break up in 2014.
The best aspect of being on the list for Rory McIlroy is that he ranks ahead of Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio, James Middleton, heir to the British throne Prince Harry as well as French president Francois Hollande.
The Northern Irishman is set to return to action later this month after taking his end of year vacation and is expected to kick-start from where he left off.
